Study on E-C Translation of Popular Science Texts under Reader's Horizon of Expectations

从读者期待视野角度分析了科普文体的汉译标准和策略,以此来加强科学发展和交流,提高普通大众的科普阅读兴趣。以美国著名科普杂志New Scientist中的科普文章为例,对科普文章的词汇和句法特点进行了简要研究和分析。以读者期待视野为理论框架,将汉语读者的接受程度置于中心地位,提出了科普文体的汉译标准和3个汉译策略:通晓信息,忠实原意;重组信息,通顺表达;增添信息,明确语意。

E-C translation standard and strategies of popular science texts were analyzed under reader＇ s horizon of expectation in order to promote scientific development and communication and enhance the public interest in popular science. Taking texts in American famous popular science magazine,New Scientist as the example,it briefly analyzed lexical and syntactical features of popular science texts in the paper. With reader＇s horizon of expectations as the theoretical framework which emphasizes the core status of Chinese readers＇ reception degree,three E-C translation strategies for popular science texts were put forward which are being faithful to the source text after complete comprehension,smoothly expressing the meaning after restructuring the information and making meaning more clear after adding necessary information.
