Bases on the trauma theory,this thesis presents a thorough analysis of the narration of trauma in The Cousins,a short story of psychological realism written by Joyce Carol Oates,with an at-tempt to reveal how the seconstruction ans reconstruction of isentity of the protagonists is rootes in their traumatic experience ans its recovery. This new interpretation of the story may enable the trau-matizes insivisuals to share their pains ans thus gain their recovery with a better unserstansing of the literary works of trauma resonating.
