摘要
Major breakthroughs in modem Earth Science research largely depend on innovations in observation and analytical techniques. Over the last two decades, there have been great advances in modem microbeam analytical tech- niques, which are widely used in various subject areas in the broad field of Earth Sciences. Remarkable enhancements to observation and analysis techniques at the micro- scale have significantly improved our understanding of the Earth's history and its many geological processes.
