摘要
本研究通过对大学英语专业学生花园路径中主从复句的理解进行测试,旨在探究中国英语学习者的语言水平与花园路径句解读能力之间是否存在相关性。测试结果表明,高英语水平组和低英语水平组在花园路径句理解能力上存在显著差异。英语语言水平的高低与英语学习者的花园路径句解读能力存在显著相关性。因此,努力提高英语学习者的英语语言水平,将有助于他们对花园路径句的理解,从而提升其英语综合语言运用能力。
To study the correlation of Chinese English learners' linguistic ability with their ability to understand the Garden Path sentences, a test of subordinative compounds from the Garden Path sentences was conducted among certain English majors. Results showed that significant differences existed in the ability to understand the Garden Path sentences between the group of Chinese English learners whose English was good and the group of ones whose English was poor and a significant correlation existed between English learners' linguistic ability and their ability to understand the Garden Path sentences. It was concluded that improving English learners' language proficiency will help them have a better understanding of the Garden Path sentences.
