Proud of the unique landscapes of springs,people in Jinan are faced with challenges to sustain continuous flow of springs due to the shortage of water resources.To have a steady flow of spring water is a dream for residents living in the city.How can we make the dream come true? The city of Jinan has been protecting the southern mountains area for water conservation and promoting the connection of lake and water systems for source supplement through overall management of water sources.During the pilot period,Jinan has vigorously implemented the connection of lake and water systems according to the water network construction of 'creating a crisscross network of water channels and a ring of waterway that encircles the city'.Radiating from reservoirs and lakes,the connecting engineering has integrated the current river channels to constitute a pattern of intersecting waterways.The overall arrangement and combined dispatching of water sources including the Yangtze River,the Yellow River,surface water and so forth has been carried out,which realizes the volume of water diversion of up to 0.3 billion cubic meters per year and has formed a pattern of water resources allocation of 'benefiting the livelihood via the connection of rivers and lakes,nourishing the city through the combination of water sources'.
