对外直接投资提升了日本制造业的国际分工地位吗

Can OFDI Promote the Status of Japanese Manufacturing Industry in the International Division?

本文在对外直接投资影响日本制造业国际分工地位的内在机制的基础上,利用日本制造业细分行业面板数据,得到反映日本制造业国际分工地位的出口技术复杂度,对日本制造业的国际分工地位进行了研判。同时,运用面板数据模型分析了日本对外直接投资是否提升了日本制造业细分行业国际分工地位。研究结果显示:第一,日本制造业在国际分工中的地位相对稳定,处于优势;第二,日本的对外直接投资与以出口复杂度度量的制造业国际分工地位呈现互补的关系。对外直接投资、产业研发投入、全要素生产率显著提升了日本制造业的国际分工地位,特别是对外直接投资对提升日本中高技术制造业的国际分工地位的作用更强,而对低技术产业没有显著影响。可以预见,为了进一步巩固日本制造业在国际分工中的地位,日本将加大对高技术产业的对外直接投资,提高创新力度和能力。

Based on the internal mechanism that shows the impact of OFDI （ Outward Foreign Direct Investment） on the international division status of Japanese manufacturing industry, this paper uses the panel data of Japanese manufacturing industry, studies the export technical sophistication so as to estimate the international division status of Japanese manufacturing industry. At the same time, this paper uses the panel data model to analyze whether OFDI has promoted the international division status of different manufacturing industries in Japan. The results are as follows. First, the status of Japan＇s manufacturing industry in the international division is stable and Japan＇s manufacturing industry has advantages. Second, Japan＇s OFDI plays significant roles in the upgrading process of the export technical sophistication which can indicate the international division status of Japanese manufacturing industry. OFDI, R＆D and TFP significantly promote the status of Japanese manufacturing industry in the international division. In particular, OFDI can significantly promote the international division status of Japan＇s high technology manufacturing industry, while has no significant influence on low technology industry. Predictably, in order to further consolidate manufacturing industry＇s status in the international division, Japan would increase OFDI on high technology industry, and improve the innovative efforts and ability.
