达雷尔遗作《朱迪思》中的英国托管政治与犹太人的“家园神话”

The Politics of British Mandate and Jewish “Myth of Home”in Durrell's Posthumous Novel Judith

劳伦斯·达雷尔的遗作《朱迪思》刚一出版即被指责有偏袒以色列的政治宣传的嫌疑。从史实考据入手,本文指出达雷尔在该小说中对犹太人以色列建国之战的颂扬确有一定合理性。首先,犹太人以色列建国之战是巴勒斯坦犹太人在英国托管政治的"保护伞"失效情况下的一种自卫方式;其次,以哈钦森教授冲突(或曰战争)建国论和神话建国论的思想为依据,犹太人以色列建国之战圆满实现了犹太人的"家园神话"。

Shortly after its publication, Lawrence Durrell＇ s posthumous novel Judith was accused of its po- litical propaganda and Israel bias, Based upon historical research, this paper argues that there is a certain degree of legitimacy in Durrell＇ s eulogy of Israel＇ s War of Independence in the novel. According to Dur- rell, making war is a way in which Jewish people in Palestine achieve self-defense after British Mandate becomes invalid. Employing Professor Hutchinson＇ s argument that the founding of a state is through con- flicts/wars and myth as a theoretical basis, this paper contends that in the novel Durrell intends to assert that Israel＇s War of Independence successfully materializes the Jewish ＂myth of home＂.
