It＇s the 1800s, men and women worked 12 to 16 hours a day. They made very little money. Workers had no benefits, they did not get any money when they were sick, and they did not get vacations. Children worked, too. Women and children worked for very little money in the factories. Peter McGuire was one of these children. It was 1863, when he was 11 years old and worked in a factory.
