The English translation of public signs should be able to overcome the cultural obstacle and facilitate the foreigners to clearly understand their meanings. There are various theories and methods concerning the translation of public sings. It is critical for the translators to adopt the appropriate translation strategy in order to obtain the desirable result. Zhuhai is close to HK and Macao, and is on the way of building a modern international metropolis. The proper translation of public sing not only brings conveniences to the foreigners but also improves the city＇s image.On-the-spot examination and research are carried out in the main public areas, and related translative theories are applied to explore the current situation of translation of public signs in Zhuhai.
