Chinese Historical Masterpiece and Shi Ji Ju Yao are monographs about traditional Chinese historical books,which are respectively edited by Qian Mu＇s and Chai De-geng＇s lecture notes. When it comes to the title and the background,these two books have a lot of similarities. However,after analysis,we can conclude that they have lots of differences in many aspects such as target audience,style,selected works,different perspectives and comments on the same book and so on. Chinese Historical Masterpiece and Shi Ji Ju Yao have wide and profound influence on historian circle. The necessary research on the differences between the books is significant for us to study history of historical science and historical theory.
