This paper summarizes the Huang di＇s Canon of Medicine＇s discussion on the sore throat which includes the pharynx meridian, and the etiology and treatment machine principle of sore throat, which are theoretical evidences in treating sore throat and lay a foundation for the extension and expansion of the treatment for later generations. This paper explores and summarizes the treatment of sore throat, especially the acupuncture and bloodletting therapy, which are common clinical approaches in treating sore throat. The treatment should be based on careful syndrome differentiation and accurate location of acupoints, and differentiation of syndromes of meridian should be given special attention.
