"半台班"是花鼓戏发展历史阶段的一种特殊艺术形式。"半台班"的产生和发展见证了花鼓戏游离在乡村和城市之间的历史处境,其主动或被动的艺术革新之中,花鼓戏实现了与地方大戏的有机融合、表演形式的创新及戏剧结构的完善,使其孕育了城市化的因素。其后,在"半台班"的熏染下,花鼓戏开启了其城市化之路。通过革新与交流,打破了艺术本体的城乡壁垒;通过融汇与规范,满足了受众的多层次期待;其广博与采纳的艺术包容性,亦使其在乡村生活的基础上,走入城市市民和文人情怀之中。

The Senior Theatrical Troupe is a special artistic form at the historical development stage of Hunan Flower Drum Opera. The generation and development of Senior Theatrical Troupe witnesses the historical situation of the Flower Drum Opera which is wandering between the city and countryside. Under the activity and passively artistic innovation, the Flower Drum Opera achieved organic fusion with local drama, it achieved innovation of performance form and improved the structure of drama which gave birth to the factors of urbanization. Subsequently, the Flower Drum Opera opened its urbanization road under the influence of the Senior Theatrical Troupe. Through its innovation and communication breaking the barriers in urban and rural areas of artistic ontology; and its fusion and specification meeting the expected of multi-level audience; through its extensive and strong inclusivity, also making it step into city residents and literati feelings on the basis of rural life.
