摘要
改编是最自由的翻译形式,处于翻译的边缘。本文探讨改编与翻译研究新领域的视听翻译之间的关联,以及改编在视听翻译中的应用。首先分析了改编与翻译概念的关系,然后剖析视听翻译的特色和本质,指出视听翻译跨越了书面文本和语言符号的界限,同时由于有符号和媒介等方面的要求,受到技术的限制,因此,视听翻译的本质是改编,而非严格意义上的翻译。在视听翻译中,改编主要表现在视听翻译的步骤和技巧中,并在一些主要的视听翻译模式,如配音、字幕翻译、歌剧的唱词字幕翻译中得到应用。
Adaptation is the freest form of translation,on the border of which adaptation resides.This paper explores the relationships between adaptation and audiovisual translation(AVT),and the use of adaptation in AVT.It first analyzes the relationships between adaptation and translation.It then identifies the characteristics of AVT and pinpoints its nature as adaptation rather than translation proper,with its crossing over the boundaries of verbal texts and verbal languages,and the restriction of technology and media.In AVT,adaptation is exhibited both as a translation procedure and a translation strategy,and applied in some major AVT modes,such as dubbing,subtitling,surtitling,etc.
