沈从文和哈代虽是两位不同国度、不同时代的作家,但他们同处于自身社会从农业文明向工业文明转换的特殊时期。从生态的角度来分析,他们的小说分别筑造了心中的桃源梦:人与自然和谐统一,人与人和睦相处,人性善良美好。在工业文明入侵对家乡和谐生态的破坏之时,他们呼唤回归自然,尊重自然,坚守心中和谐生态的桃源梦。这些渗透在小说中的前瞻性的生态思想,对生态破坏严重的今天具有很强的现实意义。

Although born in different countries and different eras,the two famous writers Shen Cong-wen and Thomas Hardy lived in the special period of transition from agricultural civilization to industrial civilization respectively in their own country. Analyzed from the perspective of ecology,their novels built up the dream of arcadia in their mind,which praised the harmoniousness between human and nature,the interpersonal friendliness and the nice humanity. When the invade of industrial civilization destroyed the harmonious ecology of their hometown,they appealed to regress into natural state and respect nature. They held fast to the aspiration of the harmonious ecology and the life in the arcadia. These precocious ecological ideas embedded in their novels are meaningful to the current society,whose ecology suffers serious destruction.
