Partnership Rather Than Alliance:Analysis of Security Partnership Between the United States and Singapore

美国和新加坡自2005年确立安全伙伴关系后,两国在军事安全领域的合作日益频繁。两国决定建立安全伙伴关系均有其原因,近年来两国主要在军事基地、军事交流、军事演习和军火贸易等方面开展了安全合作。当前美新安全伙伴关系具有非联盟的合作方式、不断拓展的合作范围、突出的反恐因素和中国因素等四个特点。美新不断深化的安全合作虽然有利于提升新加坡的安全,但这种不对称依赖关系也存在较大的不确定性。

Since the establishment of a security partnership between the United States and Singapore in 2005, cooperation between the two countries in the field of military security has become increasingly frequent. There are reasons for the two countries deciding to establish a security partnership, as in recent years the two countries have carried out security cooperation mainly in military bases, military exchanges, military exercises and arms trade. There are four features concerning U. S. - Singapore relationship： non - alignment way of cooperation, wilder range of cooperation, anti - terrorism and China＇ s great impact. Although the deepening cooperation be- tween the two countries can promote security in Singapore, it is unstable considering its unsymmetrical interde- pendence.
