Thomas Hardy（1840-1928） is the most accomplished realistic writer in the nineteenth century. Most of his novels mirror the reality from the perspective of feminism and profoundly reveal the fate of women, leaving the readers a deep impression of the living condition of women in his times. For example, his Jude the Obscure reflects the repression of women and expresses his sympathy for women.In this novel, we can also see women＇s revolt against and compromise with the times and traditional society, which, to a large extent, manifests an advancement of women themselves.
