Prose and the Regional Culture of Beijing

北京作为一座历史悠久的帝都,它在现当代散文中,被众多文人墨客尽情书写。无以计数的散文佳篇,汇聚成古老北京在胡同情缘、民风民俗、名胜古迹、饮食文化和校园幽思五个方面的文化特征,它们与当今的北京精神又呈现出内在的联系。散文作品中所铸就的北京地域文化图景,再一次证明散文的文化本体性特征,散文是文化最为直接的载体,文化融汇就在散文中。

As an imperial city with a long history, Beijing has been fully portrayed by many literati in modern and contemporary prose. Countless pieces of good prose have touched upon and constituted five cultural aspects of ancient Beijing such as the alley romance, folk customs, scenic spots and historical sites, food culture, and campus reminiscences, which have some internal link with the Beijing spirit of today. Beijing＇ s regional culture land- scape presented in various prose has once again proved the cultural ontological traits of prose and that prose is the most direct carrier of culture while culture is integrated in prose.
