As one of the three representatives of French Regulation School, R. Boyer＇s recent analysis of ＂Chinese Inequality Regime＂ deserves much wider concern. He takes the regulation mode of ＂peri- urbanization＂ as the institutional foundation of China＇s high growth economy, and puts forward criti- cism on the regime based on the experience of developed industrialized countries. This point of view is significantly different from that of G. Arrighi, the representative of social historical school who sup- ports the ＂semi-proletarianization＂ phenomenon in China. A comparison between the general analysis based on integrated analysis framework of French Regulation School on ＂Chinese Regime＂ and the So- cio-historical School＇s historic and national perspectives on the development approach with Chinese Characteristics are conducive to accurately grasping the institutional conditions and historical back- ground of China＇s high growth economy. Moreover, statistical data and details of Cbina＇s economic system that Boyer and Arrighi have in hand are incomplete, and their understanding of the historical and institutional roots of the ＂peri-urbanization＂ regulation mode has limitations. The paper attempts to make a supplement to both of them based on the specific statistical data and historical system back- ground, so as to achieve an accurate understanding of the ＂peri-urbanization＂ regulation mode of China＇s high growth from the perspective of development.
