工程类涉外工作者英语需求分析

An Investigation of Use of English by Engineering Majors Graduates Concerning Foreign Affairs

使用问卷调查和访谈的方式调查分析了三种类型的工程类涉外工作者在实际工作中的英语使用情况,得出以下结论:涉外工作者在工作中使用听说与读写同样频繁;工作中听到的英语常带有俚语和口音;工作中口语最需实现流利度和用词准确,而非语言正确;中式英语和语法错误在实际使用中并不严重影响交际。据此对工程类外向型人才培养中的大学英语教学提出建议。

This study investigated and analyzed three varieties ot engineering major graduates using English frequently in daily work by questionnaire survey and interview, and draws conclusions as follows. listening and speaking are equally important as reading and speaking in daily work of engineering major graduates; slang and pronunciation with accent are often listened to in daily work and cause difficulties; frequency and accuracy are the most needed in daily work, rather than correctness of language. Chinglish and grammatical errors don＇t pose significant impact to communication in practice. This study thereby of- fers several suggestions on teaching of college English for engineering major students concerning foreign affairs.
