The paper introduces the overall framework, design of system functions and so on of 3D geographical information monitoring system in Squatter Settlements in Tacheng, Sinkiang. Besides, it clarifies that 3D geographical information monitoring system in Squatter Settlements in Tacheng, Sinkiang is a comprehensive management information system that integrates basic information data scanning, 3D monitoring and plan selection on the basis of digital orthoimage data and digital 3D model data in the squatter settle- ments, and by combining basic data and system. In addition, the author states that the system can satisfy Tacheng＇ s demands on squatter settlements, including type -in of basic information, demolition and settlement, maintenance, updating, planning ＆ manage- ment so as to provide decision - making basis for the renovation of squatter settlements, house compensation, settlement ＆ planning and so on in Tacheng.
