中国古代的治边方略,包括中原王朝的治边方略、边疆王朝与边疆政权的治边方略,是历代王朝及政权在边疆治理方面,经过长期的实践而形成的基本谋略与传统。古代治边方略是历史经验的结晶,具有鲜明的中国特色,影响十分深远。在中原王朝的治边方略中,较为重要的是经营边疆与应对外邦的方略、地缘政治方略、博弈谋胜方略。论内容充实及完善的程度,中原王朝的治边方略领先于边疆王朝与边疆政权。另一方面,中原王朝与后者的治边方略,又存在相互影响、彼此借鉴的关系。

Ancient Chinese borderland governance policies, which consist of borderland ad- ministration policies adopted by the dynasties in the Central Plain of China and other borderland dynasties and political powers, are the basic strategies and tradition gradually formed in the long- standing practice of borderland governance in history. Since they are the product of historical ex- periences and lessons, ancient borderland governance policies have had profound influence. The most characteristic borderland governance policies and strategies of the dynasties in the Central Plain of China are those concerning borderland management, coordination of foreign relations, ge- opolitics and game playing. In terms of contents and perfection, borderland governance policies and strategies of the dynasties in the Central Plain of China are better developed than those of the borderland dynasties and political powers. However, they have also influenced and learned from each other.
