The Construction of Alternative Social Reality Based on a Case Study of Nadsat in A Clockwork Orange

在批评话语分析的理论框架下对《发条橙》中的纳查奇语进行考察。纳查奇青少年们通过不同的表征方式范畴化自己以及拒绝被范畴化,以展示对圈子的归属。话语身份中的指示秩序指明恪守圈内语言规约并不是纳查奇青少年们加盟、效忠圈子的唯一方式。伴随着社会语境的变化,青少年也会抛弃反语言,投向标准语言。通过巧妙自如的语言转换,青少年们向当事者出色地展示了不同身份转换。借此他们兴起仪式抵抗,建构二次元社会现实。

This paper explores Nadsat in A Clockwork Orange from the perspective of critical discourse analysis. Nadsat teenagers demonstrate their identity as belonging to in-group through categorizing themselves and rejecting to be categorized by particular types of representation. Orders of indexicality indicates that adherence to in-group linguistic norms is not the sole means by which teenagers display their affiliation and commitment to the social group. They choose to shift from anti-language to standard language as social contexts change. Through the manipulative linguistic shift, teenagers, as socially situated subjects, accomplish the switch into conflicting identities. They start ritual insult to construct alternative social reality.
