Using the Literature to Resist the Time——The Literature Debate of Shen Congwen

沈从文的文学论争体现在关于"海派"、"差不多"和"文学与战争"的三次论争中,他坚持文学自身的审美特性,反对"海派"文学和"差不多"文学,认为文学与"战争"应各尽其责,反对用战争来绑架文学,由此体现出他与时代流行观念之间的差异,也体现出鲜明的个性色彩:用文学之美来抗争时代之弊。

The literature debate of Shen Congwen is exposed in three debates ： the Shanghai school culture, Almost literature, and literature and war. He insists the aesthetic characteristics of the literature itseff and objects to the Shanghai School Culture and Almost literature. He thinks that lit- erature and war should do their own duty. He objects to abducting the literature with the war. Therefore it showes the difference between him and the popular ideas of that time, and also expresses the distinct personality of Shen Congwen ： resisting the drawbacks of the time with the beauty of litera- ture.
