On November 27,members of Shanghai Camerata—countertenor,recorder and theorbo player Menglin Gao,viol and Baroque cellist Eric Tinkerhess,Baroque violinist Reynaldo Patino,keyboard player Jennifer Bower and violinist Shan Jiang—traveled from the United States to the Shanghai Oriental Art Center to present a '1690 Baroque chamber music concert.' After the performance,I had a discussion with Gao,a PhD candidate at Indiana University,about Baroque vocal music.
