Birgit Nilsson was a celebrated Swedish dramatic soprano who specialized in Wagner and Richard Strauss.She achieved international stardom after playing Isolde at New York's Metropolitan Opera in 1959,making front page news at the time.Her autobiography begins with that historic debut.
