浅谈中医药文化国际传播中的术语翻译——以《京华烟云》为例

A Tentative Exploration into the Translation of TCM Terms in International Communication of TCM Culture——A Case Study of “Moment in Peking”

中医药文化国际传播过程中,中医药术语的准确翻译起着至关重要的作用。《京华烟云》作为一部中国文化的百科全书,包含了大量的中医药文化,林语堂先生独特的文化观使得书中大量的中医药术语得以完整的、原汁原味呈现给西方读者。作为一部成功的向西方世界介绍中国传统文化的巨著,其处理中医药术语的翻译方法值得我们借鉴及发扬。本文试图通过分析书中对于中医药术语的翻译,尝试探讨中医药文化国际传播中的术语翻译问题,认为在中医药文化国际传播中,术语的翻译应坚持"文化主体性原则"及"标准化原则"。

TCM term translation is critical to the success of international communication of TCM culture. As an encyclopedia of Chinese culture,＂Moment in Peking＂ contains considerable amounts of TCM culture. Dr Lin Yutang,as a master of both cultures concerned,managed to introduce the authentic,unchanged TCM culture to the western world. The strategies employed are of great referential value to the translation of TCM terms in today＇s international communication of TCM culture. And it is thus concluded that the principles of standardization and subjectivity should be followed in the translation of TCM terms in the communication of TCM culture.
