Objective To study the present condition of the understanding of pain knowledge in the medicalstudents, in order to provide guidelines for improving our teaching levels. Methods Ninety medical persons(30 internships, 30 residency standardized training physicians and 30 advanced study physicians) were investigated with the " Pain knowledge and attitude Survey Questionnaire" designed by Margo Mc Caffery, and then the data were statistical analyzed. Results Comparing with the other two groups, training physicians learn best in pain knowledge, and the difference were statistically significant, P 〈0.01 or P〈0.05. Questionnaire analysis suggested that the most qualified persons were training physicians( pass rate was 89.7%), followed by advanced study physicians(pass rate was 64.3%), internship were least(pass rate was 26.7%), and the difference was statistically significant in each group,P〈0.01 or P〈0.05. Comparing with the other two groups, training physicians learned best in pain knowledge including general knowledge, drugs knowledge and pain assessment, and the difference was statistically significant, P〈0.05 or P〈0.01. Advanced study physicians had more pain intervention knowledge than the other two groups, and the difference was statistically significant, P〈0.05.Conclusion The pain knowledge needs to be strengthened in medical students, which is direction of our teaching and education should be improved and strengthened.
