China's role in oil products trade has gradually shifted over the last two years,as the country has transitioned from a net importer to a net exporter of products.Following a 29% y-o-y increase in Chinese seaborne oil products exports in 2015 to 24 mt,a number of recent developments have resulted in shipments growing at an even faster pace so far this year.So,‘teapot' refiners seem to be increasingly targeting the export market,with some also reportedly constructing ancillary facilities.China appears keen to support total exports further,and in early November re-introduced tax rebates on oil products exports for the first time in ten years,which could encourage more shipments.Overall,there still seems to be a number of positive drivers for Chinese oil products exports,with the strong growth seen this year unlikely to be the last chapter in this emerging story.
