On the Faithfulness of the Translation of Film Names

电影片名的翻译对于影片的跨境推广具有重要意义,为进一步推进对片名翻译的研究,概述了国内学者对该领域的研究现状,阐述了忠实的含义及其不同维度,继而结合直译、意译、改译等翻译手法,举例分析了忠实原则在片名翻译中的指导意义,指出了忠实作为翻译的原则,具体的忠实程度却不可避免地受到种种主客观因素的影响。

The translation of film names is of great significance to the cross-border promotion of films. In order to further promote the study in this field, this paper made a survey of the current studies by domestic scholars, expounded the connotation and dimension of ＂faithfulness＂, further combining the techniques of literal translation, free translation and the strategy of adaptation to exemplify and conclude that faithfulness is guidance to the translation of film names. Meanwhile, it analyzed that the degree of faithfulness in the translated versions is inevitably influenced by various subjective and objective factors.
