The Relationship between Translation and Power in the Translation of Jorge Amado's Works in China

本文通过文献研究概述巴西作家若热·亚马多的作品在中国的译介情况,分析其背景,探讨翻译与权力的关系。亚马多作品的汉译主要有两个重要时期:20世纪50年代和80年代。主要体现了翻译与权力关系的两种形式:权力影响下的翻译,权力可以操控翻译;翻译的权力,即翻译也对权力施加影响。

Based on the history of the translation of the works of Jorge Amado, a Brazilian writer, in China since 1949, this essay intends to not only analyze the background in which the writer and his works were introduced into China, but also discuss the relationship between translation and power. The translation of Jorge Amado＇s works can be mainly divided into two important periods： the 1950s and the 1980s, showing two different types of relationship between translation and power： 1. The translation under power, which means that power can manipulate translation; 2. The power of translation, meaning that translation can also play a role to affect power.
