In his structuralist studies of Mythology and Totem, Claude Levi-Strauss contends that myth stands at the center of culture with regard to its "thought provoking effects" and Antigone is such an example. In the "Post" fashion of thoughts, feminist engagements with Antigone emerge as one of the most critical theory. Centering on "Antigone's unfortunate birth and subversive death", Luce Iri- garay and Judith Butler's readings of Antigone have made her not simply an enigmatic figure of tragedy, but an exemplary subject of criticism in the debates of sexual difference, kinship and cultural intelligibility. These literary citations of Antigone not only cater to their theoretical thoughts concerning feminist political-ethical criticism but can also function as a source of inspiration for feminist thought and practice.
