In 2012,the description 'new-type professional farmer' appeared in the central document for the first time, defined by the Ministry of Agriculture as:modern agriculture practitioners with certain professional skills who take agriculture as their occupation and whose income comes mainly from agriculture. 'Who should go in for farming? And how can we do farm work well?' Cultivating new professional farmers is considered to be an important way to solve these problems and promote the transformation of agricultural modernization. In Shandong, where the agricultural population accounts for more than70%of the total population, this work is taken as 'the future of Shandong agriculture' by many agricultural experts.Wang Guijun, the president of Changqing Agricultural University, interpreted this as 'farmers order dishes, and teachers cook',that is,to customize technical training services according to the needs of farmers.Training not only lets the 'old farmers' learn new technology and broaden their horizons, but also gives the 'new farmers' access to modern agricultural management ideas and business thinking at the beginning.
