Mao Zedong and Chen Duxiu are the great men in the different periods in the history of the Communist Party of China. The revolutionary association between Mao Zedong and Chen Duxiu has experienced a process of transition from reverence, close association to inquiry, alienation and finally to parting company. The three interviews with Chen Duxiu and the influence of Li Dazhao were the critical period in Mao Zedong＇ s life which established his firm belief in Marxism and communism. Mao Zedong criticized Chen Duxiu＇s right-opportunist errors, but never denied Chen Duxiu＇s great historical merits as ＂the May Fourth Movement commander in chief＂ and ＂the chief founder of the Communist Party of China,＂ and believed that he ＂was the most talented leader in the intellectual circles＂. Mao Zedong called himself ＂a student of Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao in their generation＂. The revolutionary association between Mao Zedong and Chen Duxiu is an important chapter worthy of study in the history of the Communist Party of China.
