A novel family of CD45 expressing haematopoietic effector cells(innate lymphoid cells, ILCs) has been identifi ed. These cells have phenotypical features of lymphoid cells but lack of antigen specifi c surface acceptor of adaptive immunity. The ILCs family can be divided into three subtypes based on the activating cytokines, expression of transcription factors and production of effector cytokines. Many studies have demonstrated that ILCs are essential for genesis of lymphoid organs and metabolism, and these cells are also important to tissue homeostasis and repair, as well as protection against viral and helminth infections. In addition, ILCs are expressed in skin as well and take a role in the pathogenesis of skin wound repairing, atopic dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis.
