This paper explains the necessity of the reform of curriculum design of basic mechanical design,discusses the reforming practice in contents,methods,ways of instruction and assessment methods of curriculum design. It also discusses the way of combining the curriculum design and the National College Mechanical Innovation Competition. It is proved that this way can broaden the students’ vision,enhance the students’ innovation ability,and receive a good teaching effect.
