试论许渊冲宋词英译的再创造

An Analysis of the Re-creation in XU Yuan-chong's English Translation of Song Lyrics

作为我国传统文学的精华,宋词蕴含着丰富的文化内涵。然而,受汉英语言差异的影响,宋词的英译难度可谓不小。作为闻名国内外的翻译大家,许渊冲先生在宋词英译过程中通过发挥自己的创造力,再现了原文相同的艺术效果。许渊冲在宋词英译过程中的再创造主要以意境再现、音韵和谐、修辞手法、文化移植四个层面为突破口,从中可窥见许氏于宋词英译过程中发挥的主观能动性。可见必要时译者应进行再创造才能更好地再现宋词的艺术魅力。

As the quintessence of Chinese traditional literature, Song Lyrics contain rich cultural connotation. Influenced by the differences between Chinese and English language, however, there exists great difficulty in translating Song Lyrics. As the well-known translator at home and abroad, XU Yuan-chong reproduces in his translation the same artistic effect as that of the source text by unleashing his creativity. Through taking reflection of artistic conception, rhythmic harmony, rhetorical devices, and cultural transplantation as starting points, the paper attempts to make a specific analysis of XU Yuan-chong＇ s re-creation in the English translation of Song Lyrics so as to get to know Xu＇ s subjective initiative that he unleashed in his translating process, thereby pointing out that a translator is required to do the re-creation when necessary to reproduce the literary charm of Song Lyrics.
