A Study on the Mode of Electing the President of Public University in the Late Qing Dynasty and the Early Republic of China

公立高校校长的产生是各种权力博弈和各方利益配比的最终体现。清末民初公立高校校长的产生,实质上是各级政府、社会各界和高校学者三者相互博弈的结果,其产生可归纳为政府委派、内部互选、董事会推举三种基本模式。

Electing the president of public university was the final expression of all kinds of power game and all parties＇ interest distribution. Electing the president of public universi- ty was the result of the game among the government, social circles and scholars of the university in the Late Qing Dynasty and the Early Republic of China, which was summarized into three basic modes as government appointment, internal selection and board selection.
