The history of fecal microbiota transplantation （FMT） can be traced back to more than 1700 years ago. However, FMT has got unparalleled development only in the recent years. The recent studies report that FMT plays an important role in the treatment of Clostridinm difficile infection, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, allergic diseases, obesity, autism and other diseases. This article reviewed the history of FMT, and discussed its procedure and indications.
