Translation, as a part and parcel of cross - cultural communication, is not just a switch between the source languageand target language, but more of a cultural behavior in which the more powerful culture holds sway over the less powerful one.Because of cognitive differences between translators and readers, translation as a whole is a process of extreme subjectivity. Thus, when the powerful culture infiltrates into its weak counterpart, rewriting of the original seems inevitable and this objec-tively leads to the identification and recognition of the powerful culture. This paper, based on the perspective of cognitive lin-guistics, analyzes the translation of literary works from a weak culture to a powerful one and elaborates on the translation strate-gy of domestication to bridge the gulf between the powerful culture and the weak one, in an effort to arouse readers'recognitionof powerful culture.
