摘要
India has long maintained a cautious stance on the South China Sea issue. As the regional situation has shifted, government statements began showing stronger support of claims from Vietnam and the Philippines and New Delhi began taking a series of practical moves to get involved in the dispute.
Scholars from India and China enjoy a certain consensus on India's interests in the South China Sea and its involvement in the dispute despite the different positions of their two governments.Scholars do differ on how they think India will continue to involve itself in the issue, but they generally agree that there is little likelihood of an all-out conflict.
