The Study of the Rise of British City Park in the 19th Century

世界上符合现代公园定义的公园始现于19世纪中叶的英国。英国公园从私家园林到公共园林的转变,既有自然及社会环境的客观因素,也有城市改革者的主观因素。对私家园林到公园过程的探讨,折射出公共空间在城市化转型期的嬗变,对于当下的中国也存在一定的借鉴意义。

It was not until the middle of the 19th century that the public parks have emerged in Great Britain. There were both natural and social factors that led to the transformation： from private garden to public park. The discussion on the transformation reflects the change of public space during the urbanization and have certain significance for modern China.
