陈学愈逼命行贿案始末

The Whole Story of Chen Xueyu's Case of Bribery

乾隆初年,绍兴府山阴县贡生陈学愈与同县尼姑罗柴氏等争夺地产,贿赂官吏诬告尼姑不法,逼死三条人命,而后为逃脱罪责上下行贿最终被无罪释放。罗柴氏进京向都察院控告也杳无音信。乾隆帝在得到御史弹劾的奏章后派出讷亲、方观承等亲信大臣前往浙江调查,才使这一牵连浙江官场及都察院的案件水落石出。

In the first year of Qianlong period, there was a case in Shanyin county of Shaoxing about Chen Xueyu, a senior licentiate, fighting with Luo-Chai （a local nun）. Chen bribed the local official to bring a false charge against the nun and later led to three people dead. After that,he continued to bribe officials at deferent levels to acquit the charge. Luo- Chai went to the superior court in the capital but got no response. Emperor Qianlong knew this case from the censor＇ s report and sent the duke Naqin and Fang Guancheng to investi- gate this in Zhejiang. This case involving the whole officials in Zhejiang and the superior court came to obvious.
