Children literature functions are regarded as a crucial instrument in the development of children literacies and cognition, facilitating the process of children's initial acquisition of the social ideologies. However,a multiplicity of children literary works is surprisingly characterized by colonial and neo-colonial discourse. On the basis of reviewing and analyzing the theme and genre of western children literature,we introduces the post-colonialism as a literary critical theory, interprets representative contemporary children literary works in this domain, and delineates the measures by which post-colonial discourse is deliberately constructed and perpetuated. It is argued that,to certain extents, children literature resembles the characteristics of the post-colonial ideology,is subjected to the rule prescribed and manipulated by adults. Therefore, the dialectical relationship between children's free growth and adults' consistent control remains as a permanent theme in this particular type of literature.
