On the Tradition of Large-Scale Co-Translation Initiatives in the Chinese Translation History

中华文明源远流长,上下五千年,翻译在各族人民之间的交往和融合过程中起到了重要作用,其中,"合译"占据了翻译史的重要一隅。以佛经翻译、《毛泽东选集》英译、马恩列斯著作中译为例,找出不同时代采取合译的共性和个性,从而增进对翻译事业的理解。

China has a history as long as 5 000 years, and the translation has played a vital role in the process of cultural ex-changes and fusion of diverse ethnic groups. Co-translation, or collective translation, as a method of translating, has an important place in the Chinese translation history. This aims to examine the common traits and different features of co-translation initiatives in different times in China so as to achieve a better understand of translation as an indispensable undertaking for cultural and in-tellectual exchanges.
