Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease caused by multiple factors, and its pathogenesis has not yet been fully elucidated. CD4^+T cells are demonstrated to play an important role in the development of RA. New CD4^+T cell subsets, including Th17, Treg, Th22 cells, Th9 and Tfh cells, have been continuously found following the discovery of Th1/Th2 cells. They are abnormally expressed in RA. Further studying the role of CD4^+T cell subsets in RA may provide clues for the pathogenesis of this condition.
