In Shanxi Province, the scale of the Great Wall which was built in the Ming dynasty is the biggest. According to the materials of the local history, besides the military defense function, the Great Wall also has a series of cultural significance, such as, indoctrination advocating, customs normalizing, trade development, national communication and so on. In all, these aspects have endowed the Great Wall with more profound and far-reaching significance.
