Huang Yangmo's Experience in Treating Hyperthyroidism

黄仰模教授在治疗甲状腺功能亢进(甲亢)方面注重患者不同时期的不同特点,辨证论治,选药灵活,组方精当。素体阴虚气郁化火型则疏肝解郁、养阴清热;阴虚阳亢痰气交结型则清热养阴、行气化痰;痰瘀互结阻滞经络型则消痰散结、活血通经;气阴两虚顽痰阻络型则益气养阴、祛痰通络。黄仰模教授在治疗上重视存阴,因为甲亢患者体质的特殊性,所以将养阴清热法贯穿于甲亢治疗不同阶段的始终。

In treating hyperthyroidism, Professor Huang Yangmo values different features during different periods and conducts treatment according to differentiation with flexible selection of drugs and precise and appropriate composition of formula. For pat- tern of yin deficiency and qi depression transforming into fire,he applies the method of dispersing liver qi depression, nourishing yin and clearing heat. For patteru of yin deficiency,yang hyperactivity and intermingling of phlegm and qi,he applies the method of clearing heat and nourishing yin,activating qi and resolving phlegm. For pattern of intermingling of phlegm and blood stasis ob- structing meridians,he applies the method of resolving phlegm and dispersing stagnation,activating blood flow and dredging the meridians. For patteru of qi and yin deficiency with obstinate phlegm ubstructing the collaterals,he applies the method of benefi- ting qi and nourishing yin,eliminating phlegm and dredging collaterals. During treatment,restoration of yin is attached great im- portance because of the special constitution of the patients with hyperthyroidism. Professor Huang Yangmo applies method of nour- ishing yin and clearing heat in the all stages of hyperthyroidism.
