Under the scope of the theory of dramatistic pentad, this paper makes efforts to employ the ratio to present an analysis of the dominant factors in How to Grow Old, a classic piece of prose by Bertrand Russell, and reveal the author＇s rhetorical motives, that is, he hopes the seniors are supposed to stay spiritually young by overcoming themselves. This paper aims not only to reveal the implied rhetorical art in the prose, but to present the validity of the rhetorical critiques of dramatistic pentad with the successful operation of it.
