The Influence of Romantic Experience on Long-term Mate Selection Strategy of the Youth

以234名大学生为被试,探讨恋爱经历与性别对长期择偶策略的影响。要求被试对择偶偏好的13种特征进行排序,然后以这种排序作为得分,分数越低说明择偶特征越重要。结果发现,恋爱经历与性别在长期择偶行为上存在交互作用。进一步分析发现,两性在择偶特征上存在性别差异,恋爱经历是影响择偶偏好的重要性评分。性别差异在择偶特征上存在跨文化的变异性与稳定性。

There are 234 undergraduate participants taking part in this experiment. We are aimed to examine the effect romantic experience and sex impose on long-term mate selection strategy. Participants are asked to rate the 13 characteristics of mate preference as scores of their mate preference. The lower the score is, the more unimportant this characteristic is. Our findings reveal interaction between sex and romantic experience in the course of mate selection. Further analysis indicates sex difference in the process, and important effect of romantic experience imposed on mate preference. Lastly, we find the impact of sex difference shows variability and stability in cross-cultural context.
