Shouyang hobbyhorse opera,also known as stilt hobbyhorse,originating during late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty,is a traditional folk art form integrating stilt, hobbyhorse and acrobatic fighting in Chi- nese opera or dance. Hobbyhorse opera has blossomed into a unique art school of its own in China＇s traditional folk arts for its unique artistic features and profound cultural connotations. Hobbyhorse opera is kind of local folk activity closely bound up with the local people＇s life, with major function of worshiping the heven for the bless- ings,and diversified culture as well. The long-standing continuous inheritance of hobbyhorse up to present en- riches people＇s spiritual and cultural life, and reflects the local people＇s ardent wish for good harvests.
